Pinewood Derby

We have entered into the world of scouting.  This is new uncharted territory for me that I know nothing about. Isaac's first scouting activity happened to be the Pinewood Derby.

 After Jacob's first attempt to saw and create Isaac's car, we were both thrilled when we found a precut model at Michael's.  So much easier!  Isaac was excited about the end result.

Isaac is actually the only wolf, all the other boys are at least a year older then him.

 While I wasn't able to cheer Isaac's car on because of Loraya being sick at home, I was so happy that he had a good time and won 2nd place while at it.

Quality Time

Nothing like spending some good quality family time together, don't you agree?

Christmas Eve and Christmas morning

Christmas Eve we had our friends the White's over as well as the Neilson's over.  We are thankful for friends to share the holidays with!  We ate lots of yummy food, had a white elephant gift exchange, and played Santa Bingo. Sorry I was too busy to remember to take pictures!

After our friends left we opened Christmas jammies, read Polar Express and sent the kids to bed.  When I shut the door to Loraya and Isaac's room they both squealed in delight at their excitement for the next morning.  I love these ages of my kids!

Christmas morning started at 7AM.  I told my kids they weren't allowed to wake anyone up any earlier.  Santa brought Isaac and Loraya a Kindle.  He brought Macey the Equestrian Girl dolls she had been wanting!  

Christmas day was spent playing new video games, reading new books and watching new movies.  It was a relaxing day with our little family.

Isaac turns 8

My sensitive, smarty pants, super handsome man turned 8 on December 13th.  We celebrated by going to see the movie Frozen (so so cute!...love the soundtrack!) , opening gifts, and eating pizza at Pizza Hut (his choice).  Isaac was excited to have his cousins come into town and celebrate with him that night.  We finished off the day with chocolate cake and ice cream.  When I asked Isaac what his favorite part of his birthday was he said having his cousins there.

I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

On December 15, 2013 Isaac was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Josh, Alexis and family came out to help celebrate with us.  We are so blessed to have them close enough to make the drive out to our house.  We were all feeling quite sad that Jacob's parents or my parents couldn't be with us. But, the feeling of love that was in the room was overwhelming.  I was only excepting a few of our good friends, but the Primary room was bursting to over flowing with friends and loved ones!  There weren't enough seats for everyone and people were standing in the hall!  I gave a talk on Baptism.  Loraya sang "If the Savior Stood beside Me."  Jacob baptized and confirmed Isaac.  We watched a picture slideshow video that I put together.  Macey gave a talk on the Holy Ghost.

It was a very special evening.

I  love this boy of mine so much and so grateful he is making choices that is bringing him closer to his Father in Heaven.   

This weekend was surprisingly  relaxing.
No soccer games because WVU was playing.  No birthday parties or other engagements.

13 weeks along

What really made the weekend great for myself was my energy levels were normal and felt like doing two things that I haven't done it a long while.
1.  Cooking
2.  Cleaning

Meals at this house have been a joke.  I seriously couldn't stomach making ANYTHING.  Even one night making a grilled cheese sandwich, the smell of the cheese melting was enough to do me in.  I have been eating a lot of cereal and a lot of carbs in general.  Nausea was up and down through out the afternoon and when I needed to be at the top of my mom game, I was feeling usually the worst.

BUT, I have been feeling on the up and up.  Yay!

So, yes.  Saturday the kids played with kids around the neighborhood and I cleaned my little heart away.  I must say it felt so good to have the energy and motivation back.

By mid afternoon on Saturday Isaac had an accident on his scooter.  He had flipped over his handle bars and got scraped up pretty good.  I fixed him up.  He was complaining at that point that he was getting dizzy.  I thought he was just hungry, but after about an hour I found him asleep on the couch.  Kids napping at our house usually means one thing, someone is getting sick.

Sure enough, when Isaac woke up he had a temp of 102.

I don't mind fever sickness, I mean if your kids are going to get sick, sure, throw a fever at us.  I'll take a sleepy kid with a fever any day of the week.  We read a lot of Harry Potter and watched a lot of Disney shows.  After waiting at the Urgent Care for 3+ hours, no I'm not even kidding...found out Isaac had strep.  I tell ya, that Urgent Care place was something else!  I told Isaac if I can leave this place and NOT get sick I'll consider it a major victory!  You could find me bathing in disinfectant when we returned home.

No school for Isaac today.

Last year Isaac really was negative about school and always said he wished he was sick so he wouldn't have to go.  This year Isaac is singing a new tune.  He loves school!  He was actually really sad to miss school today because that would make him the first kid absent this year in his class.  He told me, " I can go to school in the morning and after they count me in attendance  you can come pick me up!"  I told him that was a no go.

Expectations.

Celebrations of any kind for Isaac is met with expectations...big expectations.  Big expectations that usually can never be met. 

Yesterday was no exception. 

It was the 100th day of school, and I'm not sure what Isaac was expecting to happen.  What did happen though, didn't bode well and weighed heavily on his mind.

10 o'clock, way past bedtime, Isaac comes down the stairs.  He has big tears in his eyes.  In a voice chocked with emotion, Isaac says, " I just feel like we didn't get to celebrate the 100th day of school at all.  It wasn't even special."

As I tried to show genuine concern and compassion for this tragedy, I explained to him that everything can't be dancing bears and hippos with tu-tus.  In other words, I'm sorry, but you need to get over it and go to bed.

Needless to say,  I'm baking a " Happy 101th day of school" cake as I type this post.  A mothers got to do what a mothers got to do make her children happy right?
